Rotary Valve Engine

This little fellow was built from a photo I saw somewhere, so it is unlikely any of the dimensions are the same as the original.  I simply recreated what I saw, or some semblance of that.  The tricky part was the valving.  It had to be rotary, but I could not see how it worked and I had no experience with rotary valves.  Noting the set screws on the main shaft, I assumed they were for timing and that gave me an idea of how to proceed.  I won't say I built a super efficient valve, but it does work.  It turns 1600 RPM on 15 pounds of air.

This was a really interesting project causing me to use several methods of cutting and fitting I had never done before and rarely as precision as this had to be.
